History The Exception

There are at least two artists called The Exception: 1) Pop group from Birmingham, England, late 1960s. Members: Alan "Bugsy" Eastwood, Roger Hill, Dave Pegg (left in 1967), John Rowlands, Malcolm Garner.

2) Hip Hop artist: He was nick named The Exception when he was in middle school. He played basketball his entire life until deciding not to play at the college level. He got his name from one of his black all-star teammates in sixth grade who said that ‘white boys can’t jump, but you’re the exception.’ So the name stuck and was perfect for his move into music.

He’s not a typical hip hop artist either. He grew up loving all kinds of music. In 8th grade he became aware of two guys outside the school who were freestyle battling each other. He became obsessed and all he could think of doing was writing freestyle-type lyrics. In sophomore year he made his first mixtape. Things began to blossom for The Exception.

In 2006 The Exception and Marc Carter began working on creating music together as juniors in high school. After performing several live shows and recording multiple songs that became popular on the internet, they have progressively developed into successful underground artist with thousands of fans worldwide. They held the #5 unsigned artist in the nation spot on the myspace music charts for some time.

The Exceptions & Marc Carter’s new single “It’s Official”, is off of their new CD, “No Excuses”. The theme behind this song is straight forward. They are here, they are in the game and ready to be top contender in this industry – it’s official. They have plenty of confidence as is well documented in their performance. This song is full of life and is very radio friendly. It has a quick tempo with plenty of pop hook with a cool hip hop beat. Talk about being a cross over song, this song makes you move no matter what type of music you like. This song is definitely representative of who this dynamic duo is all about.

“No Excuses” is slated for release in November, 2010, but is available digitally at most iStores including but not limited to iTunes, Amazon, Napster, Rhapsody and so on...

The Exception & Marc Carter opened for an artist signed to UGK Records. And has leased a single “Crazy” featuring Gyfted to Andamiro company to feature on “pump it up” arcade game.

The Exception & Marc Carter are working with A & R Select in West Hollywood, Ca. for licensing, publishing, a record deal and/or placement opportunities.
