Biography Ed Bell

Edward 'Ed' Bell (Fort Deposit, Alabama, May, 1905 - 1965) was an American country blues singer and guitarist.

The influential pre-war Alabama blues guitarist and vocalist also recorded using the pseudonyms 'Barefoot Bill' and 'Sluefoot Sam'. His entire recording profile was laid down between 1927 and 1930 and perhaps his best known songs were ‘Mamlish Blues' and ‘Hambone Blues'. He is thought to have died in 1965 whilst taking part in a civil rights march.
