History Brân
Brân were a Welsh singing prog rock band in the last part of the 1970.
They released three albums: Ail Ddechra (1975), Hedfan (1976) and Gwrach Y Nos (1978). After their 3rd release, the band evolved into the Welsh folk-rock band Pererin that was active in the early 1980s.
Nest Howells assumed the Welsh language singing-drummer position in Brân’s three LP career. Instrumentally, the first is arguably the best to leave the in-house Sain studios at Rockfield. The track ‘Breuddwyd’ is an unsung prog masterpeice with a hip-hop break, classical Fender Rhodes passages and malnourished fuzz, while the ‘haunted house’ cover art is as prog as it gets (even without an egg).
