History Sinaloha
Inspired by legendary artists like The Talking Heads, David Bowie, The Rolling Stones and the current pop flavors of Daft Punk, The Black Keys and Arcade Fire, Sinaloha is on the verge of releasing their breakthrough first EP, Ice Pop, on July 15th, 2014.
Ideas began flowing in the spring of 2013 singer/songwriter Giovanni Alvarez, met musicians Conrad Capalbo, Jason Hecht, Jacob Mancus and drummer Alex Martineau to form what has now become Sinaloha. Shortly after, they made their live debut at Bowery Electric to a packed house where Josh Homme of the stoner rock band Queens of the Stone Age made a special appearance.
Based in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, the five members have tirelessly spent most of their first year writing, rehearsing and playing their material live to craft a distinctive yet excitable modern sound. The Ice Pop EP exemplifies a sliver of what they’ve been able to create. Coupling powerhouse drum and bass that provokes endless dancing, with raw guitars, vintage pianos and true analog synths, Ice Pop is a bold statement of their position on music.
Ice Pop includes four tracks including the Rolling Stones’ Some Girls evoking “Ice Pop”, the disco infused “Come Slowly”, hypnotizing, yet rockin’ “Phat Chix”, and the NYC rebel anthem “Surf”. In support of Ice Pop Sinaloha will be touring the northeast throughout the summer of 2014.
