History The Craig

Please note that the preferred spelling for this band is Craig. Please scrobble accordingly.

Craig was a short-lived British band from the mid-1960s, based in Birmingham, United Kingdom. Originally established as The King Bees, they changed their name when they signed with Larry Page, the legendary manager of The Kinks and others.

As for the spelling: both of their original 1966 singles for Fontana were credited to Craig, which must therefore be regarded as the preferred spelling of the band name. A later international pressing of their best known track 'I Must Be Mad' on the Hansa label, however, was credited to The Craig and they are also listed on the 'Nuggets II' box-set as The Craig. Hence the confusion. Both versions of the name are used here on Last.fm, but unfortunately the two have not been merged yet.

The band's drummer was Carl Palmer, later of prog-rock superstars, Emerson, Lake & Palmer. The other members were lead vocalist Jeff Brown, Richard King, guitar, and Len Cox, bass.
