Lloyd Thaxton and his band of Challengers didn't invent surfing but they shaped and refined surf music like no other performers in the genre.

The Challengers released: "Lloyd Thaxton Goes Surfing with the Challengers" in 1963 and "Surfbeat", one of the best-selling instrument surf albums of all time, the same year.
