История Fuzzy Lights

Fuzzy Lights was born in 2004, initially as a two-piece violin and electric guitar/loops instrumental project of husband and wife Rachel and Xavier Watkins. Since then, the band has grown to a “full” line up including Chris Rogers on guitars and electronic noises, Daniel Carney on bass guitar, mandolin and harmonies and Mark Blay on drums and percussion. This line up doesn’t however detract from their original haunting sound and aural landscapes, but builds upon it by adding elements of psychedelic folk music, Americana and noise-rock allowing them to explore wider territories and meticulously craft their own print.

Their debut album, “A Distant Voice” was released in 2006 to critical acclaim, and was recorded for the most part live in their house on an 8-track tape machine, allowing them to capture the raw essence of their songs. From the fragility of the violin in “Blackout”, to the epic noise outbursts of “Capturing shadows”, from the sad beauty and restrained build-up of “Safe Place” to the haunting vocal harmonies of “Reflective Surfaces”, the band show a great versatility both in playing styles and arrangement. PLAN B magazine called the album “Just perfect”, Planet sound “a truly mystical record that defied expectation – stunning” and Huw Stephens simply described it as being “gorgeous” on Radio 1.

In June this year they will release an EP, “Helm”, done in only four days in a converted barn in the Lake District and in August they will also release their second album, “Twin Feathers”.

Fuzzy Lights have found their home on Little Red Rabbit Records, also home to Last Harbour, Anna Kashfi, Kalbakken and Samson & Delilah.
