Lazarus A.D. is an American thrash metal band formed in southeastern Wisconsin in the spring of 2005. The group's original lineup consisted of Dan Gapen on guitars and backup vocals, Jeff Paulick on bass and lead vocals, Alex Lackner on guitars, and Ryan Shutler on drums. The band is known for its aggressive sound, often described as embodying "alcoholism and aggression" while delivering energetic live performances.
While firmly rooted in thrash metal, Lazarus A.D. distinguishes itself from '80s Bay Area thrash by incorporating intelligent, memorable riffs, mid-tempo grooves, and soaring guitar solos into a modern sound. This approach has been credited with bringing a fresh perspective to the genre.
