Cowboy Junkies

Cowboy Junkies are a Canadian alternative country band formed in Toronto in 1986. The core of the group consists of three siblings from the Timmins family: Margo Timmins on vocals, Michael Timmins handling songwriting and guitar, and Peter Timmins on drums. Alan Anton completes the lineup on bass.

The band's name, chosen somewhat randomly before their first performance, has come to aptly describe their distinctive sound. While some accounts suggest a connection to Townes Van Zandt's song "Cowboy Junkies Lament," the band had already adopted the name years before that song was written specifically for them.
