History

Third Man

Third Man was a musical project formed in London, UK, that brought together the talents of blues singer and actress Dana Gillespie and producer, musician, re-mixer, and composer Steve Lima, also known as the mashup artist fuTuRo. This collaboration resulted in three albums: One to One, Inner View, and Dream On.

Musical Style and Content

The core of Third Man's recorded output consisted of traditional and contemporary Hindu bhajans, devotional songs sung in Sanskrit. These were set against modern grooves crafted by Steve Lima. Dana Gillespie, a Hindu devotee herself, penned the lyrics for the modern bhajans. Each album also featured a single original track sung in English.

Collaborations and Guest Musicians

Third Man's albums were enriched by contributions from a diverse range of guest musicians, including Rolf Harris, Pandit Dinesh, Durga McBroom, Pete Osbourne, Tim Renwick, B. K. Chandrushekar, and Ed Deane. Rolf Harris played a particularly significant role in defining the band's sonic identity. His contributions, such as rhythmic breathing and wobble board performances, provided essential percussive elements. Steve Lima has even referred to Harris as "the third man," highlighting his integral part in the project's sound.
