History

Disciplin A Kitschme

Disciplin A Kitschme is a Serbian band that emerged in the early 1980s. It is one of two spin-off projects from the influential Yugoslav New Wave and post-punk group Šarlo Akrobata. Founded by Dušan Kojić, also known as Koja, the band initially operated under the name Disciplina Kičme and released four studio albums.

Formation and Early Years

Following the outbreak of war in the former Yugoslavia, Koja relocated to London. There, he reformed the band with a modified name, Disciplin A Kitschme. This iteration featured Gofie Bebe on vocals and Pete "Beat" Warren on drums.

International Releases and Evolution

In 1996, the band released the album I Think I See Myself On CCTV. This record included English versions of previous Disciplina Kičme songs, such as "Do Not" ("Nemoj"), "Oh Why" ("Zašto"), "Children Song" ("Dečija pesma"), and "Is That Really All?" ("Zar je to sve?").

The subsequent album, Heavy Bass Blues, was released in 1998. Alongside new material, it featured a cover of John D. Loudermilk's "Tobacco Road" and two Disciplina Kičme tracks: "Noize In Fashion" ("Buka u modi") and "High Temperature Man" ("Čovek sa visokom temperaturom"). Skip McDonald (also known as Little Axe) co-produced the album. Throughout 1998, the band performed in Serbia and parts of the former Yugoslav republics. By late 1999, they had returned to Serbia, introducing Australian drummer Will Parker.

New Millennium and Thematic Exploration

The year 2000 saw the release of the album Refresh Your Senses, NOW!. This album included the track "Da Answer" and songs addressing the contemporary political climate in Serbia, such as "D' Demoncracy Yeah" and "Surely They Won't Get Much... of My Sympathy." The band continued to tour and perform live until 2003.

Comeback and Conceptual Work

In 2005, a new lineup of Disciplin A Kitschme emerged, featuring Manja Đorđević, vocalist for Kazna Za Uši, drummer Miloš Velimir - Buca (formerly of Sunshine, Partibrejkers, and Električni Orgazam), and percussionist PP. This lineup recorded the comeback single "Političari + virusi" ("Politicians + Viruses"), released by Tom Tom Music. On July 10, 2005, the band performed on the main stage at the EXIT Festival. A recording of this performance was later released as the Uživo sa Egzit-a! / Live At Exit! DVD in 2006.

2007 marked the release of the album Kada kažeš muzika, na šta tačno misliš, reci mi? (When You Say Music, of What Exactly do You Think, Tell Me?). This conceptual album primarily explored the rise of MP3 music, with notable songs including "Bunt" ("Riot"), "Info," and "Neko mora to da spreči" ("Somebody Has to Stop It"). The first 1000 copies of the album included a bonus old-fashioned lollipop with a band logo sticker.
