Sin Bandera emerged in 2000 when Mexican singer-songwriter Leonel García and Argentinian musician Noel Schajris decided to combine their talents. García, who possessed strong guitar and vocal abilities, had been seeking a solo career, while Schajris was already preparing his own solo album after his debut in 1999. Recognizing their shared passion and complementary skills as musicians, composers, and singers, they formed the duo.
Noel Schajris was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1974. Leonel García was born on January 27, 1975, in Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico.
